Security Certifications

Cyber attacks on businesses of all sizes are a fact of life. We read stories in the press almost daily of data losses, hacks, ransomware and the like. This is backed up by research: the Government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey for 2018 states that 43% of businesses identified at least one attack in the past year.

Download the  survey summary (2 pages) and the  full report (58 pages) .

With this context, achieving recognised certifications is a great way to improve your business processes, protect your company from attack, and demonstrate your trustworthiness to your customers and partners.

Cyber Essentials

Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed and industry-supported scheme to guide businesses in protecting themselves against cyber threats.

Cyber Essentials is mandatory for central government contracts advertised after 1 October 2014 which involve handling personal information and providing certain ICT products and services.

The scheme provides clarity on good basic cyber security practices, which are designed to protect companies from the most common internet-borne information security threats. As such it provides an excellent guideline to an initial minimum security standard for all companies.

You can learn more about Cyber Essentials on the NCSC Cyber Essentials site .

Amwell has a thorough understanding of Cyber Essentials. We can work with you to identify gaps between your current security arrangements and the requirements of the scheme. We can then recommend the most cost-effective way to bridge those gaps to achieve the certification.

We are also a Certifying Body for Cyber Essentials, which means that when you are ready to apply for certification, we are authorised by the relevant authorities to review your application (a Self-Assessment Questionnaire) and decide whether to issue a certificate of compliance.

In addition, on successful certification for Cyber Essentials, we are able to offer free Cyber Liability insurance of up to £25,000 (Terms & conditions apply – please contact us for details).

IASME Governance

The IASME (Information Assurance for Small & Medium Enterprises) Consortium is one of the five UK Government-appointed Accrediting Bodies for Cyber Essentials. The IASME Consortium has developed the IASME Governance standard for information security management. This goes beyond the technical threats addressed by Cyber Essentials, and looks at how you manage security including staff, training, physical security, incident management and business continuity.

You can read a full definition of the IASME Governance standard here .

Amwell has a thorough understanding of the IASME Governance standard. We can work with you to identify gaps between your current security arrangements and the requirements of the standard. We can then recommend the most cost-effective way to bridge those gaps to achieve the certification.

Amwell is also a Certifying Body for IASME Governance, which means that when you are ready to apply for certification, we are authorised by IASME to review your application (a Self-Assessment Questionnaire) and decide whether to issue a certificate of compliance.

The IASME Governance certification automatically includes a Cyber Essentials certification, meaning that you can benefit from the free Cyber Liability insurance of up to £25,000 described above.
